Beastly By Alex Flinn -------Book Review #7

Author: Alex Flinn
Publisher: Harper Collins Publishers
Rating:

I am a beast. A beast. Not quite wolf or bear, gorilla or dog but a horrible new creature who walks upright—a creature with fangs and claws and hair springing from every pore. I am a monster. You think I'm talking fairy tales? No way. The place is New York City. The time is now. It's no deformity, no disease. And I'll stay this way forever—ruined—unless I can break the spell. Yes, the spell, the one the witch in my English class cast on me. Why did she turn me into a beast who hides by day and prowls by night? I'll tell you. I'll tell you how I used to be Kyle Kingsbury, the guy you wished you were, with money, perfect looks, and the perfect life. And then, I'll tell you how I became perfectly . . . beastly.

WOW....it's been a long time since I reviewed a book. I've read many of the books I'm suppose to review it's just that I haven't had time and I've been lazy. So I've returned with a book that I absolutely adore and recommend to anyone. All the books I've promised to review are pretty much finished and will be up this week. Also the Suite Scarlett Giveaway ends Mondays, so if you want to enter then a leave a comment on that post. It will end at midnight Canadian Central time. Anyways onto the review.
So I really, really loved this book. I don't have any complaints, really. I mean it was fast paced *I read it in less then 24 hours*, how realistic character *mostly*, and it was a fabulous modern telling of Beauty And The Beast.By the way Beauty And The Beast is my favorite fairy tale/Disney Movie. Lately I've been addicted to Disney fairy tale films. My current crave is Beauty and The Beast, so recently I've been reading a lot of adaptations of the fairy tale and this is my favorite *even though it's not a direct adaptation*. I mean the beast, aka Kyle, is very emotional character and his feelings the readers will feel. The author make sure of that. Also we also have felt loneliness at one time or another and we can relate to that. Anyways what I'm trying to say is it was a awesome book, I loved it, and I hope you read it. The only real complaint I have about it is I thought the conflict in the ending with the antagonist *if you want to call that guy that* was too short, I mean like a page and half short. I mean even the Disney film had a better fight then that. I just wish their was more to it then that simple thing the author put. Other then that the book was enjoyable, yes some of the plot twist were obvious but oh well it was ok. The ending was ok, I'm not sure. It was romantic, but I don't know if I wanted it to end that way. I've seen other authors, mostly my favorite authors, do this and I kind of got upset over it. But yah, oh-well again. It's a awesome book and I recommend it to anyway. But please don't go in reading this is 100% like Beauty and the Beast because it's not. It's totally different with some similarities, but I promise it will be worth your while. Also they're making a movie of it, it will come out July 2010, starring: Alex Pettyfer *As Kyle, aka the Beast*, Vanessa Hudgens as Linda *aka the beauty*, Mary-Kate Olsen *as Kendra, the witch*. First off I don't know what Vanessa Hudgens and Mary-Kate are doing in this movie, I don't understand that. Mary-Kate looks nothing as Kendra is portrayed in the film though somehow odly I can imagine her as Kendra. Vanessa Hudgens I can picture as the ordinary type of girl, kind of, though she looks nothing like Linda *same as the kendra thing*. Linda has orange hair and green eyes whereas Vanessa is keeping her brown hair with brown eyes. No resemblance. OH-WELL , I'm excited though. WHY DOES IT HAVE TO COME OUT IN 2010. I haven't even thought about grade 11 yet. I also think Alex will make a great beast, yay. Anynways they did a interview on ET about it and I will have you know this interview is kind of what made me check it out. Ok here it is, enjoy:
